Wycombe Abbey, located in the heart of High Wycombe, was founded by Dame Frances Dove in 1896. She was the principal of St Leonard's School in Scotland. Today, there is a large manor named "Loakes House" on the original site of Weiya Public School. This manor was once the residence of the Archdale family. Until 1700, Thomas Archdale sold it to Henry Petty, the first generation Earl of Shelburne. The count then bequeathed the manor to his nephew William Petty.
