Winchester is a full boarding school for boys aged 13-18, with day pupils, including girls, in its Sixth Form.Wykehamists do exceptionally well in maths, physics, chemistry and linguistic Olympiads.‘They push you,’ says a boy new to sixth form, ‘and so every lesson is fun.’ Cloisters and courtyards create a calm, almost contemplative feel. Rebellion here takes more of an intellectual form. ‘We are elite, but not elitist,’ says school: huge means-tested bursary scheme with significant support available at 13+ and 16+.
